Academic Spotlight: New Programs and Initiatives

Hey there, academic enthusiasts! Lancaster High is always striving to provide the best possible educational experience for all students. This year, we're rolling out some exciting new programs and initiatives designed to enhance learning and prepare you for future success. Let's take a closer look!

One of the most anticipated additions to our academic offerings is the STEM Academy, a specialized program for students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This academy will provide a rigorous and hands-on curriculum that challenges students to apply their knowledge to real-world problems. Through project-based learning, research opportunities, and industry partnerships, students in the STEM Academy will develop the skills and knowledge they need to excel in STEM fields. In addition to the STEM Academy, we're also expanding our Advanced Placement (AP) course offerings to include AP Environmental Science and AP Computer Science Principles. These courses will provide students with the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school, giving them a head start on their college education. AP courses are designed to be challenging and rigorous, but they also offer a great opportunity for students to develop their critical thinking skills, time management skills, and study habits. Important Announcements & Upcoming Events

Alright, listen up, everyone! Here are some important announcements and upcoming events that you need to know about. Mark your calendars and stay informed!

• Back-to-School Night: Thursday, September 14th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This is a great opportunity to meet your teachers, learn about the curriculum, and get acquainted with the school. We encourage all parents and students to attend Back-to-School Night. It's a great way to start the school year off on the right foot.
• Homecoming Week: October 23rd - October 27th. Get ready for a week of fun, festivities, and school spirit! We'll have dress-up days, pep rallies, a parade, and the Homecoming dance. Homecoming Week is a great time to show your school spirit and have fun with your friends. We encourage all students to participate in the Homecoming festivities.
• PSAT Testing: Wednesday, October 11th. This is an important test for students who are planning to attend college. Sign up in the guidance office by October 4th. The PSAT is a great way to prepare for the SAT and to see how you stack up against other students across the country. We encourage all students who are planning to attend college to take the PSAT.
• College Fair: Tuesday, November 7th, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the gymnasium. Representatives from colleges and universities across the country will be on hand to answer your questions and provide information about their programs. The College Fair is a great opportunity to learn about different colleges and to start thinking about your future. We encourage all students who are planning to attend college to attend the College Fair.

Student Spotlight: Meet Our Achievers

Sarah Johnson, a senior at Lancaster High, recently won first place in the state science fair for her project on renewable energy. Sarah's project explored the feasibility of using solar panels to power the school building. Her project was praised for its originality, its scientific rigor, and its potential to make a positive impact on the environment. Sarah is a dedicated student who is passionate about science and environmental sustainability. She plans to attend college and major in environmental engineering.
